The need for sustainable IT and ethical responsibility

Green IT, or sustainable IT as we call it, is often seen as the driver and support for many sustainable business programs. From that very point of view, Inetum in Belgium is proud to be a reference company in the field of IT, helping companies become more sustainable by offering tools and solutions that allow them to improve their carbon footprint.

Just think of data centers that need less power by using virtualization, or logistics companies that reduce miles traveled by optimizing delivery schedules, or manufacturing companies that need fewer raw materials by creating more efficient production processes through state-of-the-art Business Analytics.

Not only do software solutions offer opportunities for sustainability, but also the infrastructure itself plays an important role. We all have computer screens that consume less power than older CRT monitors, our data centers use blade servers instead of traditional server racks, and our offices are equipped with multifunction devices that are much more energy efficient than having multiple separate devices to achieve the same functionality.

Unfortunately, with the same technological advances that allow for ever-optimizing and increasing efficiency, that same equipment is also aging faster and faster, to the point that when equipment is decommissioned it is often still perfectly usable for general IT purposes. Sustainability also means being smart about it.

Preboarding

Before your first day of work, we will familiarize you with our organization and your future work environment.

First day

The first day always starts with a warm and personal welcome at our headquarters in Huizingen where new colleagues meet and get to know the managers. They get to know each other and who we are and what we stand for. We share practical information, finalize some documents if necessary and hand over IT material, company car, ...

Personal follow-up of your first months at Inetum

A few weeks after your hiring, we contact you to ask for your feedback on our recruitment and onboarding process. This is essential to improve the onboarding experience!

Internal mobility

We offer mobility in all directions: to other clients, other functions, other roles or fields, both nationally and internationally.

Employees at the driver's seat

With us, you are at the driver's seat of your own career. Of course you get support, but for the most part you map out your own path. The possibilities are there. Together we map out your personal development process. 

Our greatest asset as an employer is that our employees are at the driver's seat of their own careers. They decide for themselves where they want to be in two, five, ten years, and together we draw up a development process. Our employees follow a personal path with training courses, milestones and coaching. They are the architect; we facilitate and support them in their personal career plan.

As an employee, you naturally have expectations towards your employer, such as efficient follow-up and attention to your ambitions and future development. We have several processes to follow up on your career and evolution. Via project debriefings, together with your manager and our client, we take the time to look back at your performance and the results achieved. Your personal feedback on your project experience is also important to us.

In addition to these meetings, there are several informal contact moments with your Business Unit Manager, Account Manager, Mentor and HR Manager. This keeps you in contact throughout the year and you always have a point of contact if you want to discuss specific issues. To support these contacts, we organize regular feedback and technical sessions.

Training and personal development

We invest heavily in your career planning and development to increase added value for both parties. Well-trained consultants are the key to excellent results with our clients. In return, our consultants enjoy fair compensation.

To support your career development, we use a customized career management system with clear role descriptions and competencies. Your position can be a combination of different tasks and responsibilities. Many of our employees consciously choose a combination of roles. These roles vary from project to project and depend on your personal ambitions.

Young graduates

The acADDemICT Junior Track is a unique program for young graduates. The term acADDemICT refers to young graduates with a strong passion for ICT and who are interested in lifelong learning.

Are you an undergraduate or graduate student about to graduate?

Then we have good news for you! We are looking for young, motivated consultants to join our team. During a solid three-month training period, we will help you make the transition from academia to business.

Every year, Inetum in Belgium invests in students with great potential. They are mentored by experienced colleagues, who guide them to the start of their careers as professional ICT consultants.

By the way, our Belgian CEO is the perfect example of the opportunities available. Johnny Smets started his career at Inetum in 2004 as what today is called an acADDemICT. Soon he became SharePoint Unit Manager and from that position he was promoted to Business Unit Manager for the entire Microsoft division. He held this role until 2011, when he was appointed Business Strategy Manager for the Professional Services Applications Division, where he was responsible for both strategy and sales. Since November 2012, he was Managing Director. In January 2020, he was appointed CEO.

As a student, there is nothing like an internship to get a taste of the real thing. At Inetum in Belgium, we offer several internships every year. Become our intern and get personal guidance from an experienced professional!

There are plenty of reasons to do an internship. It's your chance to get hands-on experience. Use your internship as a "trial period" to explore different options and boost your resume.
