Barcelona, June 28th 2024.- The Inetum director will head the association that brings together the district's innovative, technological and creative sector: large companies, institutions, universities and technology centres, as well as a network of SMEs and start-ups.

The appointment comes after a selection process with the more than 250 organisations that are members of a project that has been running for 20 years and is facing new challenges, such as boosting business development in 22@.

For more than two decades, the 22@ project has been an economic epicentre of innovation, knowledge and creativity, internationally recognised and with a fundamental role in the business development of Barcelona and Catalonia. "At Inetum, we have been committed for years to innovation and technological growth in the region, and as President of 22@, we will continue to work to ensure that the city continues to be an international benchmark in this field", stresses Susana Prado.

In addition to Susana Prado's presidency, Osmar Polo of T-Systems will occupy the Strategic Vice-Presidency, with a system of alternating positions every two years. Inetum, with Susana Prado at the head of the territorial management of Catalonia since 2017 and with a workforce of more than 740 professionals and with clients in both the public and private sectors, will contribute from the presidency of the district to "strengthen an ecosystem that provides knowledge and collaboration necessary to address the upcoming challenges and the creation of spaces that promote creativity and knowledge, balancing uses of offices, commerce, housing, culture and services to attract international talent".

The company, which has been present in Catalonia for more than 20 years, strengthened its presence in Barcelona with the opening of its new offices in 22@ in 2022. Inetum has more than 2,100 square metres of office space, making visible the paradigm shift in the workplace model that the company is implementing, combining the best of the traditional model with new ways of working under the premises of flexibility, trust and mutual commitment between the company and the professionals.

Objectives for the coming years

Susana Prado and the rest of the team intend to promote public-private collaboration to strengthen relations with the Barcelona City Council and various entities with the aim of expanding the innovation ecosystem beyond the limits of current urban planning, connecting the district with other hubs in the city to promote cooperation and knowledge sharing.

In addition, they aspire to keep 22@ at the forefront of innovation through R&D projects and strategic alliances with companies, universities and technology centres, as well as promoting the internationalisation of the district by sharing its model of success on a global level and establishing links with other innovation districts.
